Hi SL
You probably have this one
http://www.glasgow-barrowland.com/market/history.htm
Did your family have a shop in the vicinity? or did they have a "barra" in the market?
I remember the fruit sellers would have their pitch on the outside of the market, suppose that made sense because they had a habit of chucking any unwanted fruit onto the gutter for the road sweepers to get rid of

Hi
My Grannie had a fruit shop in Kent Street
From 1899 until 1930
My father was born in the back shop in 1905.
The family that have the Barrow at M & S are the Campbells, who are related to the well known Barra character Maggie McPhee.
It is still there and the only stall in Glasgow to have a permanent street licence, as far as I am aware
The local authorities (the cooncil) tried to have it revoked, but jim took them to the European courts, and they upheld his case.
Though he is still at the stall (I think) he is not allowed to sell off the barra, but his family can.

Sorry
Could not read any PM
However if you e-mail me at
DauvitATbtinternet.com
I will pass any info I have.
There is a wee book called "Barrapatter"
Which was published by The Friends of the Peoples Palace.
I am not sure if it is still in print, but I will check up for you.
I have my Dad talking for over an hour on film, on life in the Calton, he mentions Maggie McPhee and how she "Ruled number 24 Kent Street"
My family were at number 25
