Balornock Road. completed.....

Post by anner » Sun Feb 05, 2006 12:57 am

Can some one help, I have just Found my g.parents death certs after a lot of searching. On both of their certs. the address where they died is 133 Balornock Road, Glasgow. Their usual residence being in Ronald Street.
Does any one know if Balornack Street was a hospital or anything. It is quite intriguing as I have been searching for these people for a long time.
Thanking every one in advance. :D

Many thanks I did wonder as they had both been ill but at seperate times. It seemed a coincidence that the address was the same and for it not to have been a hospital. That nearly closes one part of my searching. Now for the next.

Hi Anner
Stobhill was originally built as a poor law hospital

Depending on when they died it may be worth checking for poor relief applications

Stobhill was a General Hospital by 1937. My husband was born there.

I guess some of the Mothers would still have considered it a WORKHOUSE,
after all they call it being in LABOUR

Just to say thankyou for all your help, our death certificates came from 1945 and 1947 and were from my grandparents that we were told had died around 1922. So after a lot of searching found out it was a later date.
