thanks to the lead for maps provided by DDW i have found Camlachie, but does it still exist under that name or has its name been changed. See what a pathetic exile i am.

Still known as Camlachie as far as I am aware. I work in the East End and have rellies born in Camlachie.

The locals would still call it Camlachie, but map makers and other folks without much local knowledge would probably refer to the area as Denniston or Bridgton.

Multimap for instance does not have an area name for those streets, but my older street map does call it Camlachie.

Keep an open mind on these things - depending on what source you are looking at!

Hi,

It's fair to say that Camlachie is often included in Parkhead, however, it's still alive and well with new houses being built recently by Camlachie Housing Association.

thank you to merlot and others who replied about Camlachie. I found an old map of Glasgow and found Camlachie by the first crease.I have a very large scale, more recent map of Glasgow and could not remember seeing that name, mind you I can't remember when I last saw the map having loaned to my son. At least I now know where it is or was which I hope will help me find my elusive Baillie's.
