Can anyone tell me where Malcoms Entry was in Dundee in 1841?

Hello Caroline,

I'm not stalking you honestly!

I've had a quick look at www.nls.uk and I'm pretty sure it will be within the Dundee map area 74415320 (or the area just south) but I don't have time to look properly at the moment.

Maybe Andrew will have a look before I can get back.

Following the enumerator's walk I get the impression it is near the shore at Scouring Burn which as far as I can gather is not far from Commercial Street.

There are lots of little closes and entries in the area.

Anyway, I thought you were supposed to be resting - you've been all round the country these last couple of days(Leith, Glasgow, London, Sunderland and now Dundee) !!!!!

There is a malcolm Street in Dundee , between Baxter Park and The Football Stadiums - about the only landmark I ken in Dundee ken!

I blame all this travelling on you! If you hadn't found that poor relief application with the correct name of Jessie Campbells mother I'd still be going nowhere. Going to be exhausted by the time I go back to Cambridge next week for my check up!

That narrows it down even further. Should be able to find it now. Did you locate the page through a Google search?. I got nowhere when I tried.

Malcolm's Pend is on at the top left edge of sheet 74415350 (also marked LIV.9.3) on the 1857-8 Dundee map
