Bouverie Street Port Glasgow.....

Post by Kathy » Fri Jun 30, 2006 1:54 pm

Bouverie Street Port Glasgow, seems to be a re-occuring address in my line of research.

As near as I can work out, the houses were built in the late 1800's or early 1900's, still standing, still occupied, overlooking the town of Port Glasgow.

I was wondering, on building as old Bouverie Street, is it possible there is a history recorded, if so, where would I find it?

I have tried emailing the Strathclyde Council, no reply from them.

Hi Kathy,

Afraid I can't answer your query about the history of the street, but just wanted to check that you'd seen the pictures of it at this site.

Hi Caroline,

Thanks for the web address, I have seen the pics, it was nice of you to have taken the trouble to list it for me.

Hi Kathy
I wonder if the valuation rolls have survived? The Mitchell Libraray may be able to help.

Hi Jim,

I was trying to recall from memory, it was Inverclyde, I had used the "contact us" spot on the website.

It would seem that research can only be done with a personal visit to the Mitchell Library, no online research, I could probable spend a lot of time there, but the travelling is a bit far.

Thanks for the interest.
