Car Bomb at Glasgow Airport.

Post by rye470 » Sat Jun 30, 2007 5:00 pm

I cannot believe what I'm seeing.

Why would anyone want to blow up Glasgow Airport? Heathrow I can understand, but Glasgow!

This is one of the busiest weekends of the year - the start of Greenock Fair. The fact that only the perpetraitors were hurt is a miracle.

Hi Christine,

I have just read a report that two cars had collided and one went on fire so maybe it wasn't an 'attack' as rumour has it.
I think they're still trying to figure it out.

regards,
Annette M

Hi Annette,

Definately looks like a car bombing on CNN.

Strathclyde Police have taken issued a report saying that they have taken 4 men into custody. They had an eyewitness who had been picking up a friend at the time. His car was commandeered by airport staff who gave him some details about it.

It's the Clydebank fair this weekend too - so I'm guessing the airport would be busier than usual.

Its a scarey world we live in isn't it?

It's so quiet here - I can usually see all the planes approach the airport from my living room window, it's spookily silent.

No crash involved.

Definitely an attempt to drive a Jeep through the terminal doors, and set fire to the car inside, - it may have been already alight before trying to drive through the doors, - whatever, at least one of the men involved was sprinkling petrol inside and outside the car when it got stuck.

The two "men of Asian appearance" attempted to avoid arrest by fighting with members of the public and airport staff, before police detained them.

Sounds like a pair of "amateurs" as any properly planned attack would have quickly figured out that the car was too wide to get through doors.

Benn watching BBC 24 hrs off and on since 3:30 ...... there's plenty of eye witness reports ............

Glasgow airport now completely shut down.

There's folk on planes that had just landed, or just begun to taxi, who're now stuck on the ground and have been told that it'll be 9pm at earliest before they are allowed off.

Edinburgh airport now closed to all vehicles, although flights are still operating ..........

Folk stuck at Stansted still haven't been told that Glasgow is closed, - they found out when they phoned friends !

I can't even begin to comment, or I'd be arrested.
My son had to be evacuated from his workplace on 7/7.
My daughter was caught up in the shooting a week later.

Whilst on the bus back from shopping in Paisley today, people were all talking about large numbers of fire engines racing towards airport, and obviously thought it a planecrash.I can see planes setting off and coming in from my house, and it's weird, things are so quiet.
Our local hospitals not letting any visitors in,so the injured man seems be there!
As the saying goes, you never know the minute!!!
