Hi everyone,
Does anyone know where I can look at Glasgow city directories? Preferably on Line but still have toes and fingers crossed for Glasgow next year. I am looking for ironmongers and ironmongers foundries. Great grandfather James Pennington gives his occupation as ironmonger on the 1891 census. His brother in law Alfred Campbell gives his occupation as ironmonger also on his 1890's marriage registration. David Pennington, James brother is listed on his 1930's death reg. as iron foundry storekeeper? ( a little illegible.) I wondered if there was any way to know if they all worked together or possibly owned a business.
Well I'm off to the Calgary stampede and will check my e-mail when I get back.
Bye ya' all for now,
Melody

The 1927 Directory is available at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com ... x-glas.htm
other directories can be found (with a little searching) at
http://www.theglasgowstory.co.uk/index.php
You can either enter "directories" in the search box which will return the first of over 100 different images or a better method is to click on the "site map" link on the right hand side of the page and scroll down the list where you will find many of the directories listed.
