Loudoun Castle historical records

Post by ksyoung » Sat Jul 14, 2007 4:14 pm

My question relates to historical papers that list who worked at Loudoun Castle in about 1810-1825. I have a family history that was passed on to me by another researcher, and it includes a transcription of a letter from a man who says that his grandmother, Elizabeth Parker, worked as a maid in Loudoun Castle. She was born in 1804 and married Alexander Millar/Miller in 1824. Are there any documents that could confirm her emplyment at Loudoun Castle? I am reluctant to take the information as true unless I can confirm it, since I don't even have a copy of the original letter from Elizabeth's grandson, or know who owns it or transcribed it.

Thanks,
Katherine
