Hi Aileach
you make it sound so easy when you say just a quick look I'm finding it hard to find anything but the info you have given me all looks and sounds right the only part I can't understand is the brother Fyfe. I seem to recall my dad saying he had step brother and sister but I'm not sure I spoke to one of my brothers just now but he doesnt remember any of it but that was our dad he only told you something if you asked. Can you tell me what I should look for now I know my dad had 3 brothers 2 sisters name in order going from eldest
Catherine
Helen (Both Spinsters)
George
William
Joseph (Dad)
Robert
I don't know how to thank you for the info that you have give me I really appreciate it I wouldn't be this far without you thanks so much x

Hi Jean
are you saying that 1930 was the year that Agnes died I was talking to my brother to night and he said he remembers my dad saying that our grandmother died young and dad didn't remember much about her but he remembers a story about someone falling into a loch and she helped them and caught some decease and died off it now whether that was true I don't know do you think I would be able to get any of this info from a old news paper or something?sound daft I know
thank you for your help I'm very grateful. x

Hi there

What I'm saying is that the DC for the Agnes that was the mother of Joseph Brown born 28/12/1921 that Aileach found the records for is available to purchase on the ScotlandsPeople website. If this Joseph is truly your Joseph I can't tell you but it surely looks likely. When you view the DC for Agnes you'll be able to see her cause and place of death as well as who her parents were.

Best wishes
Jean

Hi,
You don't have to put everything. If you search for Agnes Brown in 1930, County/City/Minor Records: Glasgow City
District: St Rollox
You'll get 3 hits and it will be easy to tell which is the one you want.
You're not stupid!!! :D It just takes some practice to know how to find what you want. Don't hesitate to ask again if you still can't find her. We've all had to learn from scratch, too!

Cheers,
Sarah[/i]

You can't see the recent ones online, you would have to go to New Register House in Edinburgh, or be very nice to someone who was going there anyway  I'm in France at the moment, but maybe someone else could have a look at at least get the information for you. (Ah! I see that Jack has volunteered to have a look. Just sit tight and wait then, Jack doesn't make empty promises!)

[cheers]
