hi carol, thanks for all info.sorry for delay in answering.crashed p.c. again!!! I think Hugh left Scotland directly after his school years (as oldest son he was kept on at education past mandatory 14yrs . he was probably 18-21yrs old. father:John-mother nee Catherine Hay Nicholson . John,s father: Hugh -mother nee Grace Stewart. Hugh,s father:John -mother nee Janet MacNab . John,s father: Hugh- mother nee Dorcas MacLean. I,m trying to find out previous lineage. I,m hoping that when I go to Isle of Skye (where emigrant Hugh,s grandfather Hugh was born in district of Duirinish. I remember my father Ronald (Hugh,s brother) having an obituary notice on a clipping from Canadian newspaper and it gave some interesting info : origin,w.w.2 war service etc. will keep you informed ,regards Hugh.
