He was almost in the "too old" list for serving in WWII, which was why I am a little hesitant Sarah. Many folks at that time did take a few years off their age - so those stated as born to 1910/11 could also be considered. (One of my relatives put his age up for WWI and down for WWII - it seems they were rarely checked, especially if not born in Australia).
