Hi Russell,
I've heard nothing from either of them yet but it's early days I guess. I have helped my mum find lots of relatives and piece together missing pieces of her family puzzle and it's so exciting when you find something. The item I have is a mourning brooch from the 1800s. I really enjoyed researching the history of the brooch and was delighted to find the marriage record of the couple online. There are plenty of collectors for these type of things and we sell them all the time but it would be lovely to sell it back to a family member, one that will treasure it. I have a ring that a man my great granny had 'courted' made for her out of a spoon. He carved the claddagh design on it. I treasure it as I'm sure you treasure the piggy bank.

Hi Pamela
If you had a look at some of the other recent posts a few people are having some problems receiving alerts when there are additions to their posts. Don't know what the cause is but it could be affecting Susan and Ginger too
I love the idea of a ring fashioned out of a spoon
It appeals to my DIY instincts. The piggy bank I mentioned is like a ball on a pedestal with a spike on top and his the name is carved onto the ball. It must have been the fashion in Edinburgh as it was made in the Portobello pottery. It sat on my grandmothers mantelshelf above the fire and when she died it was being handed to me when my aunt dropped it and it smashed on the hearth. I sat -as a fourteen year old - and fitted and glued all the pieces together again so it has even more meaning to me.

Greetings Pamela, from NZ.
I see that neither ginger9 nor susandun have been regular participants on this site, so if your messages, to them, don't get a reply, perhaps you could also contact Michael DUNN - dun.org as mentioned by Susan. At least you could be making contact with extended family that way.
As an aside, do you have family in NZ ? I know we have Kavanagh's here.
Alan SHARP.

I have a silver and enamel mourning brooch with entwined locks of hair. One, possibly auburn and the other white. On the reverse it is engraved Janet Noble died 10th April 1840 and William Tod Died 29 November 1847. It was purchased today in Glasgow. I was curious to find out the history of it and was amazed to find your site enquires. Hopefuly the information will help in your search. Freda Telfer.

Hello Freda and ![TS welcome [TS_welcome]](./images/smilies/TS_welcome.png)
I wonder if that is the same mourning brooch that Pamela was referring to over a year ago? Fascinating!
It's a pity that the original posters don't seem to be checking back here.
All the best,
Sarah
