Aye, well...I can't think of it as anything other than the Mitchell Library! Dunno why they feel they need all these name changes. It is not as if there was anything wrong with it - far from it!!
If it ain't broke, why fix it......

Best wishes

Mary's children are
Emma b1878, George b1879, Harriet Amelia Maud b1880, Mary Sarah b1881. All were born in Queensland Australia. All have the surname Bourne.

Ok I can see George and Harriet but not Emma and Mary in the birth index - not that it helps any. :(

George - mother given as Mary Turner McKenna.
Harriet - mother given as Mary McKanna.

So she married John Turner in 1876 then George Bourne in 1878 and gave her parents' names as Alexander McKenna, engineer and Mary Copeland on both marriage records?

Spooky that in 1886 there is a James Bourne born to a Mary Copeland.

I have tried searching for Copeland and McKenna (and varients) on census records at Glasgow but no joy. Of course she could have left Scotland before 1861. I understand your frustration with this one........ :x

Sorry no help at all just wanted you to know people are trying.

Regards,
Annette

Ok according to the Blessingtons at Ancestry this is your man at Liverpool in 1891-

Alexander McKenna 60 born Liverpool
Mary A McKenna 51 born Norfolk
Janet Stewart 48 boarder
Sarah Stewart 45 boarder

They also say he was born at Scotland :? but I cannot find him on any other census at the moment. They also have Mary Sarah's father as a James Elliot.

Thank you both for the replies. I will search England for Alexander. I have found a death for Alexander McKenna states born abt 1831, died Apr,May,June 1891 Toxteth Park, Lancashire.

I will apply for a copy of this Death Certificate and see if it is the Alexander I am after, hopefully it will be.

In regards to Mary Sarah Bourne, yes I have found her birth registered twice, both with same reference numbers but 1 stating fathers names as James Elliott which is the correct one as I have since received a copy of her Birth Certificate.

I will be going to the England forum next asking for help with another member of the family. I have hit a brick wall with this one as well.
