I looked into the Cowan tree and i cant find a Sinclair in it but thats cause there are thousands of names so i need to spend a lot of time looking for one but on the Heaton one they are descended from Janet Fergusson Sinclair, Marys Roy Sinclairs sister, Janets grand daughter is still living so she must be in her 70's. So now i need to try find some living relatives now in England as that were they moved to after 1898.

Gary,

Ancestry family trees have a Search function within each tree (upper right). You just put in the name you are looking for and it goes right to it. That should save you lots of effort. Good luck.

Hi everyone,

I spoke to Janet fergusson sinclairs great grandson and he asked his gran who is janets only living daughter if she knew anything about her aunt Mary and she said she thinks she moved to Australia in the 30's.

Hi everyone,

I am some confusing info.

I looked at the 1901 census on SP but mary isnt on it and there is no marriage or death cert for her.

Mary was born in 1881 not 1882 and i was thinking perhaps she moved with her sister to northumberland so the death could be right but english death certs are usless because they dont give the parents names.

how would i find mary on the 1901 and 1911 english census then to see if infact she is there.

Hi Gary,
I looked at the 1901 and 1911 census records on Find My Past and didn't come up with anything for Mary Roy Sinclair born 1881 +-5yrs.

There is a May St. Clair age 32 born in Edinburgh and general servant to a Jacobs family in Birmingham.

Did you look on Ancestry to see if they had anything for her?

Regards,
Anne H
