Hi Jack , thank you so much for all the information you have gathered and your time spent doing it, I will print out and keep it all in case it ties in with my Gt Grandfather, everyone has been such a help and it is all very much appreciated, I am amazed at how much info is out there I feel quite hopeless at the moment in comparison, Cheers Liverbird

Hi John Thanks for your reply, yes I have learnt now that you only pay the search fee, I recieved £7 back from G.R.O.
You asked for census info on Elizabeth Wesson and this is what I have.
1861 RG9/997 folio 87A she is with her parents John and Phoebe Wesson and family she is 5 yrs of age living in Back Street , Earith Huntingdon
1871 Bluntisham -cum - Earith Chapel Lane. Elizabeth still with her family aged 15 yrs and a servant. (from liverpool family history society)
1881 RG11/2957/101 Elizabeth is working for Herbert New a Solicitor living in Edgebaston , Warwick, and is shown as a housemaid age 25 yrs, but her birthplace is shown or transcribed as Ewitt, Nr St Ives Huntingdon. I have checked this out and everyone thinks it is an error on dialect, as there is no area of that name.
1891 Elizabeth is shown as a widow living in Irlam Road , Bootle with her 2 children John 7yrs and Elizabeth aged 4 yrs , living with them was a Scottish lady named Margaret Putterson I believe she was the widow not Elizabeth as surprise , surprise John Mc dermott turns up again in the 1901 census, unless there was a reason he was thought to be dead perhaps drowned at sea,
1901 RG13/3461 as follows
Head John Mc Dermott 45 years Dock (word scribbled out) ladies/tailor (worker. stroked through) born Scotland
Wife Elizabeth Mc Dermott aged 44 years born Earith , Huntingdon
Son John Mc Dermott aged 17 years dock labourer born Liverpool, Lancs
Daughter Elizabeth Mc Dermott aged 14 years born Bootle , Lancs.
I dont know how John snr went from being a seaman to a tailor perhaps it was meant to be sailor, my grandfather gave his fathers occupation on his own marriage cert as being seaman deceased. this was in October 1907. this is all the info relating to her record wise apart from she gave birth to my Grandfather on the 16th October 1883 in Liverpool, the 2 years in between 1881 and 1883 remain a mystery, like all family researchers I do wish they had spoken to each other more, Cheers for now Liverbird

Hi Jack , thanks for the info I have this John Mc Dermit already and a John Mc Dermott (as spelt on my grandfathers birth cert ) who was also in Liverpool on census night, he was on the vessel "Express" as a fireman but he is aged 33 and from Dublin and married. It looks as though matching up Wesson to Mc Dermott is going to be the proverbial needle, but a huge thank you once again, Cheers Liverbird
