Thank you once again for looking at this. I've just had a close look at the family you suggested and unfortunately I don't think they are the ones. Apart from the birth date being three months different, the father is listed as a ploughman and not as an engineer.
I know people can be creative with their age, but as children we always celebrated father's birthday on 1st July, which tallies with his recently found Army Enlistment.
Thank you also for the information regarding Scotland's People and their search facilities.
I'll keep digging and will certainly update you if there is a Eureka moment!
