Hi all
I know the Southern Necropolis is different from the old burial grounds in the Gorbals.
However, on my records three McNaughtons, are buried in the Gorbals, but only one was in the burial grounds the other two in the Necropolis.
One who died in Argyle in 1857, was transferred to the Burial Grounds a distance of about 90 miles.
A Neil McDougal was the superintendant at that time.
Another rellie who died in Kilmeny, Islay, in 1859 was buried in the Southern Necropolis. The grave digger certified the death.
I wonder how common that was, to transfer the deceased all that distance to inter them.
And you should see some of the estate agents ads for the new houses there.

The Old Graveyard.
I was quite surprised to see your link to the site Lesley, that the last burial in the Old Graveyard was about 1915.
That did surprise me
