hi Jean visitedd SP website found David Dick clothlapper died 1902 aged 28 this could be my grandad but were itt gets confusing is on D/cert his wifes name is given ass Margaret erskin and his mother ass Alison Dick M/S Wright i need my David Dick to have been married to alice Dick M/S Wright my grans name was def Alice its confirmed again on my mums B/C also on G/parents alice and hectors M/cert thers a wittness Mary Dick :? any thoughts on this Jean and Leslie many thanks best wishes James

:D :D :D :D hi lesley and jean many many thanks please ignore my last post FOUND HER its ass yu sed alison dick born 1899 found her B/C ON S/P her birth name was alison dont know wy she used alice her mother was Margaret Dick M/S Erskin father David Dick av olso managed too get her D/C from S/P she died 1941 in edinburgh again many thanks n best wishes James

Glad you got it sorted out - it can be very confusing when each generation uses the same names - there are more Davids in that family than I can hold in my head! (as was demonstrated yesterday)

I need to refer to them all with their occupations or I get in a right muddle. But, a lot of the Dicks were masons..so I'm pretty sure there is more than one David Dick the mason!

I have quite lot on your branch of the Dick family, because they are, I think, a branch of my Dick family - our branches part company about 6 generations ago. If you'd like the info then send me a PM with your email address and I can send it on as an attachment. However, you may prefer not to have your fun spoilt and do it all yourself!
