Hello Robert
Thank you very much for all this information. You have removed a few question marks in my family history research. If ever testimony were needed as to the worth of the Talking Scot community, this is it.
For completeness Robert, Christina Geekie and her brother John were born in Scone and Perth respectively. Only the later Dundee births are shown on the IGI.
You noticed that Thomas Morris wasn’t at home at the time of the 1881 census. He was also recorded as deceased earlier when his son, George married.
I could fill volumes telling you about my search for this man and what unravelled when I did. Perhaps I should qualify that by saying, I dashed around Scotland like a headless chicken. It was the kindness of strangers like you who brought me up to date.
Anyway, Thomas went to Cairneyhill in Fife, his birthplace, and later died in the Dunfermline poorhouse many years after he was recorded as dead.
Many thanks once again.
Malcolm Morris
ps I'm assuming that a Widow Annuitant is one living on a private pension
