Hello Christinerye470 wrote:Hi Agnes,
I am from Linwood and there are a few McGiverns still living there. One of my friends was a McGivern until she married. Funnily enough, her name is Agnes and her dad's name was Patrick. I know that her father was from Linwood and that she has Aunt's and Uncles still living there.
Christine.
I know it has been a long time regarding the above family I am now in Scotland and will be going to St Conval's in Linwood. To check the records re McGivern family trying to make a connection with a Bridget McGair who would have been Rosanne McCruddden's mother in law her parents were Patrick McGivern ans mother was Mary Dorans I hope I can make the connection
Cheers Agnes

Hi Agnes
If her death was in Elderslie then she may have been buried in Paisley in Woodside cemetery. The Abbey cemetey in Elderslie only opened in 1888. Another nearby cemetery is in Houston but i think it was linked to a Protestant church. Both the old cemeteries in Kilbarchan are part of the Established Church of Scotland and the new non-denominational cemetery did not open until 1897. So Woodside would be the most likely resting place. they are usually very helpful (and FREE !) if you can give fairly close dates.
