My Grandfathers parents went to Oz for a while and had a child on board sip and another in Oz then returned to Scotland.Question isn't why they went?It was probably for work to make a better life.he real question is why did they come back?Did it not work out or was there something else?

Nina:
I clicked on the US flag - offer for Independence Day July 4. Then I registered [which is actually a registration for British Origins], once I entered my info, I was able to search by clicking on the tab Irish Origins across the top.
I had a few hits, but not greatly impressed with what I found (of course, there is a learning curve to these things) One thought I had was, 'If I knew all the information they request for a search, why would I be searching?'
Now I see why ScotlandsPeople gets such raves!

Thanks Frances,
I didn't find anything either, but then I am probably looking in the wrong place as I was searchong for a likely military marriage and birth in Malta.

Thanks emanday,
Well I registered and did a seach and although it gives me a list of registers where my ancestor might be located (such as "army list for years 17something to 19somethingelse") I can get no further without paying it seems, which I think is ridiculous! At least at SP you can search for someone in Glasgow for example of a certain age and it might give you 100 possibilities, but at least you KNOW there is a chance! What if my Mary Morgan, supposedly born 1867 in Malta isn't even there? I have to pay just to see IF she is there...what a rip off!
