Unfortunately, I never got his death certificate and the lady didn't seem to know when he died.

It might be worth while at least looking at the list of those who died since 1855, and were born in 1886 (11 on list) - you might be able to whittle the list down a bit. When you get the death certificate, you can then move onwards!

Ah well - I might take you up on that one! My poor sister got the short straw when we divvied up the family history. She got the Irish bit!

I'm still playing about on SP at the moment, using up my last few credits - pay day is such a long way away

Take your time with the list - remember it's the one restricted to births in 1886. There's a longer list (3 pages - 3 credits) if you widen the birth year to 1886 +/- 2 years.

Have fun - and remember if you manage to isolate a question, don't hesitate to post the query here - someone is bound to offer to help you out - especially if they're stuck with their own searching - sometimes it helps the log jam.
