CHARLES ALLEN DUNFERMLINE
If I was a gambling canadian scot I would bet my bottom dollar that it is not the same person!!. However if I win my favourite candy in Scotland used to be Oddfellows and I have never been able to find them much to my disgust. If you win I owe you a pint!!!

Hi Folks
OK, OK - I admit defeat here - still - what were the chances of 2 Charles Allens (note that it is most unusual for that surname spelling in far north of Scotland - I have lots of Allan ancestors from Aberdeenshire and Orkney and all are spelled Allan) both being ministers and both having married women with Mary & Elizabeth in their names. I now have a new dilemma - for curiosity sake I'll now have to find what happended to the one who got married in Shetland - that's genealogy for you!!
Margaret - I will of course honour the bet - if you would wish to PM me with some details and I'll get your Oddfellows off to you. Personally I hated them as a kid - the taste of cloves was always too much for me.
Lesley and Anne thanks for joining in the humour.
Best regards

Hi Ted
Don't forget the female surname beginning with H which is another co-incidence. Sadly I can vouch for Margaret's being the victor as I looked up the DC for her.
When I was a child I did not like oddfellows much either but there was an old man in the village (given my age then he was probably about the age I am now!) who always gave us oddfellows. I'm sure he had a name but I certainly can't remember it as we always called him Mr Oddfellow.
