Hi Jean

OK - worth a try anyway. Just as a point of interest - most of the houses (miners row type) in Greendykes Road around 1920 were owned by the Oil Company which refined shale in the area. I have some photos of the houses circa 1920 -25 and an ariel shot of the whole area around the oil factory. I had an ancestor (not a Stewart) who worked there 1919 - 1922 and I did some research in that area and came across the pics - if they are likely to be of interest to you I'll be happy to share them.

Best regards

Ted

Ted,

Just came across this when undertaking my family tree.

James Alexander Stewart was my grand father - so I guess we are related somehow down the line.

James Alexander Stewart married Janet Ferguson Cumming and had 2 children (James and Sheila). James is my father.

Thought you might be interested.

regards

Linda

Hi Linda

I have looked over my records and I have quite a lot of info on James Stewart and his wife Margaret Alexander. I also have a copy of your grandfather's birth certificate from 1896. I'm happy to share with you and it would probably be best to do this offline.

If you PM me we can exchange contact details - I think that you need to have 3 posts on the forum before you can use the PM feature. If you reply to this message a couple of times that should do it.

Regards

Ted
