Hello Jean and all
I recently transcribed some entries for 1861 marriages and came across a "Berty" and a "Betsy" as given names.
I used to work with a "Maisie" one of two Irish sisters her Sunday name was Mary Ann, and her sister was "Nancy" aka Annie Philomena

Ann/ Marion
Hi there,
Has anyone heard of Ann and Marion being interchangeable? On my great grandmother's marriage certificate, her mother's name is Marion Lang(nee Adams) and her father as William Lang but an OPR search for Marion & William's marriage records her as Ann Adams. Is this likely or have I got the wrong marriage?

Hi Andy,
Thank you so much for your help. She certainly looks a likely candidate although there is no "s" on the end of the surname. That said, the Ann Adams I had didn't seem right as the marriage took place in Glasgow.I will have to look further into it. The 1841 Census is not throwing up anything that fits.
Thanks again, Katye
