Hi Andrew,

I really couldn't say, but i've always found the BIVR indexes a bit "hit & miss".
Occasionally though they do show the unexpected...
Like Thomas Hunam's record; his is the only "Hunnam" entry for Tranent.
Thomas is caught between his birth Dec 1854 (OPR) & his christening Jan 1855 (when Stat Records began).
Could this have anything to do with him not appearing on SP?

The CD box doesn't exactly explain what the indexes contain (it's the 2nd edition i have)
Though it does say,
"This is not a complete index; some counties in this set have been extracted more heavily than others"

Sorry this still doesn't answer the question....
Jack
ps, jings! a lot has happened since i started to reply

I will pose this 1854-1855 question to my contacts in NRH and SP and see if they have any scope to do anything with the end-date for OPR searching. I think the NRH search facility will use the same cut-off dates. It seems unlikely, but no harm in asking.

All the best,

Andrew

Well the good news is that as Andrew has pointed out, Maple will at least be able to view the christening record on microfilm .
Andrew it would be great if you could raise the question with your contacts - if these baptisms are on the same film as the the 1854 ones , then you would think they might well be on the SP index, it's just the cut-off date in the serach parameters that prevents them from being retrieved ?

Folks

You never cease to amaze me with your Sherlock-like abilities to investigate an issue. Thank you so much. I am so glad I found this website. :D

Thank you Andrew for asking your contacts about the 54-55 issue.

Regards

Maple
