RESULT!! Jane remarried in 1888, the hussy to a Christopher Sparling. Her parents are given as David Martin, Mercantile Clerk deceased and Barbara m.s. Mitchell deceased and daughter Barbara Marshall is one of the witnesses.

Anne

She seems to have died in 1905 in Ballingry but the parents given on the DC are total mince.

Hi again

It seems that Christopher was 10 years her junior and had lots and lots of kids. So she had a toy boy, the brazen hussy!!

In 1891 you will find them in Beath.

How many months (weeks? days?) between the death of her husband and her remarriage?

Wow, you guys are amazing! I can't believe everything you know! Here are some replies:

Sarah: Yes, David was a coal miner in 1881 in Dysart.

Emanday: Do you have the information off the death certificate from 1888 in Dysart? Does it list parents names?

Anne: Yes, Jane was born in Kirkcaldy, Fifeshire. How do you know Jane remarried in 1888? Do you have the marriage certificate?

Andrew: How did you get birthdates for all the kids? Yes, those are the other family members.

Thanks everyone!

Sarah

She was quite restrained and waited almost a full 6 months to remarry. David died 22/04 and she had hitched up again on 16/10. Positively moderate of her I think!

Clarissa

Yes her marriage is on Scotland's People ready for you to view in 1888.
I was a bit lucky there actually. Once I'd established that there was not Jane Beveridge m.s. Martin deaths I looked for all the Jane Beveridges of about the right age and scanned through the list which came up when I searched on SP.

Then I decided that she was young enough to remarry and looked for the marriage of all Jane Beveridges about the right time. When I saw the one which said Sparling it rang a bell for me with the list of deaths I had looked at so I looked at it and sure as fate it was her.

Having established that her death was there for me to look at in 1905.

Hi Clarissa,

I did a 'parent search' on the online IGI. That looks for all children to a given couple of parents. The index stops at the end of 1874 for births (and 1875 for marriages).

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... _form=true

Insert the father's names and mother's name (use maiden surname) and the region (British Isles). Leave the other boxes empty. Then "search".

All the best,

AndrewP

No, I just find their genealogy search facilities (the IGI etc.) to be a great resource.

All the best,
