Right just forget everything I posted.

Found this - much more likely for Jessie's birth.

JESSIE MCHARDY Female

Event(s):
Birth: 21 NOV 1871 Kirkmichael, Perth, Scotland

Mother: JANE MCHARDY
:oops:

Annette M

Hmmm. I may have got it wrong. This looks like Elspet, James and Jean in 1841. No William in the family, it seems, although I suppose he could have been a visiting nephew or something when Emily was conceived.

1841
High Street, Forfar, Angus
James Grant, 55, born Angus, Flesher
Elspet Rodger, 55, born Angus
Margt Grant, 25, born Angus
James Grant, 20, born Angus, Ag Lab
Jane Grant, 15, born Angus

I admit I'm getting a bit confused with all the ideas spinning around on this thread! :lol:

Me too Sarah. :lol: Poor Caljam will wonder what's going on.

I'd be interested to know Emily's daughter's middle name.

Emily E. SPENCE 2 F Daur, Lunan, Forfar, Scotland

Annette M

Now I'm really getting confused... Here is Jane MacHardy in the Lamond household in 1871, but no sign of a William to be the father of Jessie. Not sure how we got here... :lol: and I hope Caljam doesn't run away screaming at the sight of all this! :lol:

:idea: If Emily's mother was working in Glenshee in 1871 maybe she went to that area to have her son, William in 1872. :idea:

Just noticed on IGI, only the mother is given for the birth of William - perhaps Alexander is not the father of William?

WILLIAM GRANT (extract)

Event(s):
Birth: 15 JUL 1872 Persie, Perth, Scotland

Parents:
Mother: EMILY GRANT

Best wishes
Lesley
I did consider this but Emily and Alexander were working together during the 1871 census so he may still be the father.
