Sorry not been able to find Alexander Kesley as of yet , but noticed you have the wrong date for Helena's year of birth, She was born abt 1870 in the Colony and that could be anywhere and on the 1871 census for Hulme Manchester, she is 1 year old.


Does anyone know where the Colony is?

my estimate of Helena's birth was taken from that which appeared on her wedding certificate, 29, but transcription errors are common.
Her profession on the cert, butchers saleswoman, address, 67 Roslea Drive Dennistoun,however, my wish would be to find the death for Alexander Bavis Kesley (he had middlename ) so I hope someone might find him

just a wee update from the 1911 Census for Perth ,Helena Kesley age 42 Head, married, duration of marriage 12 years, birth place Canada,she is living with her daughter Margaret at 31 Leonard Street , no sign of Alexander, I think he has flown the nest Cheers

I am not related to Helena who was born in Canada in 1869 and died in Wycombe Buckinghamshire in 1932, it's the missing Alexander B, that's eluding me however I am sure you are aware of the Godfrey family tree on the Rootsweb site

Hi All

Having studied Helena's marriage certificate. It turns out that Alexander's mother is Mary Beveridge. Mary was deceased at the time of the marriage. Alexander's address was 4 miller Street, Motherwell, so I assume Alexander's father was married again ? Does anyone know this?

I had a look on family search and found an Alexander Kesley born "Russia" Married to Vasel Kesley birthplace, Russia, born abt 1876, they both immigrated to the USA. Alexander in 1907 he was Born abt 1876 and according to the record Alexander was 34 years old. Vasel immigrated in 1909 and I was thinking maybe he wasn't divorced, so said he was born in Russia. I also found a record on Ancestry of an Alexander Kesley who joined the army and was sent to Second Boer War in South Africa from 1899-1902. This could be the reason we cannot find him on the 1901 census records. Anyway in 1910 they are both living in Westford, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA.
