Hi All,

It's well seein the festive season is on it's way. Hogmanay just isn't Hogmanay without the Alexander Brothers and Co.

My father's been gone a lot of years now, but mum only went in March this year and I had an overwhelming need to get something that was reminiscent of my childhood. Family photo's and personal items are the usual keepsakes wouldn't you agree? Not for me, I had to get two albums (well CD's now) that had the strongest childhood memories for me. God bless Amazon, because you can't just walk into a store in New York and expect to find Matt McGinn and the Alexander Brothers. Found the required CD's in no time. This is but a few of the tracks I will now howl like a baby to at 'The Bells'.

The Road to Dundee
Nobody's Child
The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen (Loud Wails).
Campbelltown Loch ( I wish yae were Whisky)
I'm No Awa' Tae Bide Awa'
Uist Tramping Song
Mairi's Weddin
The Muckin' O Geordie's Byre.

If I don't post again before it,

Have a great Christmas and 'Aw the best when it comes"

Rye you are much like myself. When I left home I copied as many of the old albums to casette as I could and had my sister copy the Billy Connelly albums and forward them to me later.
My Ain Folk always brings a tear to my eye but its Doon in the Wee Room that sets my toe to tapping. :D
All the best,
HeatherK

The Wee Room Underneath The Stair
Now if yer tired and weary, feelin' sad and blue
Don't let your cares upset ye 'al tell ye what tae do
Just tak a cor tae Springburn go inta Quin's Pub there
Go doon intae the wee room underneath the stair

For it's doon in the wee room underneath the stair
Everybody's happy everybody's there
And they're all makin' merry each in his chair
Doon in the wee room underneath the stair

A king went a huntin' his fortunes for tae seek
He lost his cor at Partick went missin' for a week
Days and nights they hunted sorrow and despair
They foun' him in the wee room underneath the stair

Fur it's doon in the wee room underneath the stair
Everybody's happy everybody's there
And they're all makin' merry each in his chair
Doon in the wee room underneath the stair

Noo when am gettin' auld and ma bones begin tae set
I'll never worry naw I'll never fret
For I'm savin' up ma pennies tae buy a hurrly chair
Tae tak me tae the wee room underneath the stair

Fur it's doon in the wee room underneath the stair
Everybody's happy everybody's there
Adn they're all makin' merry each in his chair
Doon in the wee room underneath the stair. :D
