Hi Sandra,
You mentioned -
>There are 3 middle names in James family, Morrison and Mckean I know about,
but then we have Reid and Shearer in the equation!
I know one of the daurs of James McNAB & Jean McKEAN had the middle name of MORRISON.
(Jane Morrison McNab, b. 1857)
Do you know who Jane got her middle name from?

Hi Sandra,
Sorry to hijack this thread but just noticed your mention of a George Williamson. I too have a George Williamson from the Milton district who is causing me some problems.
Perhaps it's just the name or maybe it's the same chap. What more info do you know on yours? Mine married an Agnes Graham in Glasgow in 1854 and had several children including Elizabeth Williamson in 1855 (according to her BC he'd have been born circa 1811 in Edinburgh). From at least 1855 until his death in 1876 he was in Kelvin Street, Glasgow.
Best wishes
Donna

Hi Donna,
How I would love to tell you that we share the same George Williamson, as it is I actually have two of them,
one b abt 1830 married to Jane Peel, and the other b abt 1857, married to Elizabeth Anderson, both born in Calton/Bridgeton area, so afraid we both still have separate headaches ](./images/smilies/brick-wall.gif)
I will keep you in mind if I come across anything in my search that could be related to your Geo.
Good luck
Sandra

On Jane Morrison's 1887 DC, her father is James morrison, her mother is Margaret no maiden name listed, I think Jane Morrison had a bother John Morrison, they were born CampsieJack wrote:Hi Sandra,

Did mother Jane MORRISON (b~1811) have any siblings?
Where was she born?
And do you know her parents?

Jane Morrison (1811-1887) Married Thomas Marshall 1838, then Robert Yuill 1851, not sure if she did marry William Mckean, Reputed father of Jane McKean (b1830) so don't think they had any other family
Jane Morrison and Thomas Marshall had three children -
Jane b1843, Isabella b1847, Christina 1844
Jane and Robert Yuill had two children -
Margaret b1844, Robina b1853

George McNab & Elizabeth Reid family
Hi Sandra,
I was wrong with the Mrs NAB (50) & Andrew (21) I came across in 1851.
She isn't George McNAB's wife Elizabeth REID.
Mrs McNAB is a Mary FYFE who died in 1871, and hubby was Andrew McNAB, cotton weaver.
After Sarah found she was a Mary born in Hamilton, i had my doubts it could be Elizabeth!
You already have a lot of the things Sarah discovered, but it's just to keep it all together.
I couldn't find a suitable George (b.1820) or Andrew (b.1831).
You've got a lot of this below - and very possibly all of it by now!

GEORGE MCNAB
ELIZABETH REID

=============
It would seem that George McNAB & Elizabeth REID have both died by 1851.
George has various occupations, and was quite possibly all of them at some point in time.
Agricultural Labourer, Ploughman, Chemical Work Labourer.
Looks like a few of their children became Railway Engine Drivers.
And as you know your James McNAB was one too.
(but again as you know his 1902 DC had parents as Roderick McNAB & Euphemia BEATON...)
There are fair reasons for James being the son of George McNAB & Elizabeth REID.
Maybe not proven beyond all doubt, but much in favour are these at least....
1) First son is named George.
2) A daur named Elizabeth Reid McNab.
3) James was an Engine Driver (not conlusive in itself, but does help somewhat)
4) All those others that are the children of George & Elizabeth.
=======
This William is mentioned because he could fit for the LDS submission of 1817,
and 1st born son appears to be a George.
Also sons William's & John's MCs say their father is an Engine Driver.
Just a pity William appears to have died by 1851 though.
