Hi again

I would also go for the marriage certificates of Fred and Selina, as that will give you her father's name and might help you find her on the 1901 census and also one or both of Sam's marriages to confirm that he is the same chap as the Sam Brookbanks Breen born in 1858.

I second that, you definitely need to get at least one of his marriage certs, probably both as we all know how info can change from one cert to the next.

Your credit card will be begging for mercy!

Best wishes

You mean Sam, right, not John? John Breen may turn out to be irrelevant, since he couldn't be Sam's father even if Margaret was his mother... 8)

Your husband has a fascinating family!

Sarah

Yes, please do as we're all agog to hear the latest instalment and may be able to point in other directions once that info is found and confirmed.

Isn't it nice to know that Sam from a very sad start seems to have made his way in life and done well enough to buy his house etc.
