Hi Legs

Did a check with my last credit on SP and found that Betty H Neilson married Archie Gracey in Lesmahagow, 1891 - looks like your wooden leg man!

Congrats to all.I have trawled through the OPR for CrawfordJohn for hours & they are beautifully kept & there are lots of Neilson's Coltharts on them.Never found any of mine who claimed they were born there but it was a pleasure to look at them & worth the £2.70 it cost at my LDS Family History Centre.

Hi Legs,
long time after your message, but am a bit curious to know if you have info about Neilsons in Glasgow - maybe even know about this couple? Willow Reid MASSIE and Robert NEILSON were married in 1913 in Dennistoun, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.
Thanks,
James.

I'm not sure if anyone is still interested as this reply is about 5 years late but reported earlier was my grand father was dead but at that time he was alive. He died in 1914 December fighting in WW1. His name was William Hoatson Neilson - born 1872 in Lesmagowan HIs elder brother was called Thomas -somewhere I have a family group of the family.

Hello Mary and :D Welcome to Talking Scot.
Its lovely when a new member comes on with family information to share. Legs and Bethsan don't appear to have been on the board recently but they should get notification of your post. You could send a PM and if they still have the same e-mail address you would be able to exchange information.

Hello Mary,

The death of Guardsman W. Neilson, 9335, Scots Guards, was reported in a long list of casualties. See the Glasgow Herald, 4th March, 1915, page 11, column 3. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=G ... page&hl=en

The Scottish National War Memorial has his place of birth as Blackwood, Lanark, and date of death as 18 December, 1914.

He was probably among those buried during the Christmas truce of 1914. http://www.1914-1918.net/truce.htm

All the best,
Alan
