Hi Jen,
Thought you must have gotten busy. I just spent a year trying to settle my mother's estate from seven hundred miles away and with a brother who is a real twit. But, hey, that's family and all of the big stuff is out of the way. Enjoy your weekend!
One note: I had the wrong Margaret when I mentioned the possibility of her will. Margaret is the second most common female name next to Isabella in my family so it wasn't Margaret Raitt's will that I was remembering!
The money does add up so I'm on an SP budget. Much gnashing of teeth that last week of the month, but so far I've stuck to it!

Hi
I've just joined this site and searched for the Raitt family, and found this thread.
I am a Raitt and have a lot of info on the Raitt family.
Most of the info I have was passed on to me from a member of the ANESFHS, who had spent 35 years doing his own tree.
I am the g,g,g grand-nephew of Jane Raitt, Peter Grant Raitts mother (I think I've got that right)
So far I have got from Jane Raitt, her parents are James Raitt & Christian Crichton.
James' parents are William Raitt b.Kintore, d. Belhelvie & Margaret Martin.
Williams parents are William Raitt & Elspet Rhinde. married in Kintore.
But I can't find any more on William or Elspet Rhinde.
Does anyone else have any info ?
Thanks

Hi Sheep and welcome to Talking Scot!
I'm not directly related to Peter Grant Raitt. My line goes from William Raitt and Margaret Martin's daughter Ann. However, if you read back a page or two in the postings you'll see some from jen wilson. She is related directly to Peter Grant Raitt. If she doesn't respond to your post, you could try sending her a private message. Her family life was very busy when we heard from her the last time, but I think she might be interested in hearing from you about your connection to Peter Grant Raitt!
My records only go back as far as William Raitt and Margaret Martin so anything that you have beyond them is news to me!

Hi Martin,
I can see hundreds of heads nodding and faces smiling at your comment about being overwhelmed and confused at the amount of information.
Hang in there and take good notes! We've all been there. In fact many of us get there regularily! But we mostly all keep plugging away and you will find that this website is a great place to get sympathy and questions answered.
Thanks for the information on James Martin. I hadn't gotten back to him yet. I've been busy with the Clerihew side of my family which is still driving me batty. I did have James Martin-husband of Margaret Jaffrey as dying 26 Jan 1821 Damhead of Orrock and his wife Margaret as dying 27 May 1822 also at Damhead of Orrock. Can't tell you where I got this information because I didn't note my source--something you should ALWAYS do!
I check and get back to you on that.
Carol

Hi,
I am still here and listening, in spite of long silences brought on by family complications, work and the fact that I am researching several other peoples' families.
Martin - are we in touch through Genes Reunited? If so, you have access to my tree so I don't need to tell you anything. If not, let me know and I'll give you any information I have.
Carol - I have the Damhead of Orrock stuff too and, like you, have no idea where it came from. Did I get it from you or did you get it from me? I have only come to appreciate the reasons for noting sources after years of doing this. How dim of me.
Jen

Hi Jen,
Nice to hear from you again! I still don't have a clue where I got the Damhead of Orrock information. I checked all of my notes last night and didn't find it anywhere. I had printed out everything that you sent me and it isn't in there. It also isn't from the IGI so it must have come from one of the MI booklets but I don't know which one. It isn't Belhelvie. That would be too easy! I'll find it again some day, but I have a lot on my plate for the next week or ten days.
Good hunting!
Carol

Genes Reunited insists on using my full name, which is Janice. Are you Martin Raitt? I am certainly sharing my tree with someone of that name.
