Hi Jenny,
To see Muiravonside church and cemetery on a current map, go to:

Click on I want to get a map now.

Using the controls to the left, you can zoom out to see the location relative to Linlithgow, Polmont, Falkirk (further out) etc.
Either of these maps can be moved around to see local farm names and the like.

Hi Anne,
For some reason while browing the SGS website (and indeed while in their place in Edinburgh) and getting the West Lothian MIs I managed to miss the Stirlingshire East ones.. I may try to pick them up.
However in the meantime -
There is also William Fisher, the husband of Mary, who disappears from the scene at some point before 1851. If you have any MIs that relate to these people, that would be very fine!
Others are Marion Boyd or Whyte, widow of James Whyte, who was in Muiravonside (Linlithgow Bridge) in 1841 but apparently died before 1851 census, and indeed any Whytes or Whites (spellings are interchangable) may be relevant.
Best wishes,
Jenny

I am particularly interested in Mary McCulloch (or Fisher) who died in 1863. She was born around 1790. Her daughter Ann Fisher (b 1813) married Robert Stewart and ran the Bridge Inn after Mary. I don't know which cemetary they would be buried in - Muiravonside or Linlithgow St Michaels, one assumes.apanderson wrote: P.S. I transcribed the Churchyard a couple of years ago so I've got a note of a few more recent stones if you think there's any which might be 'yours'

Hi Andrew
I was very intrigued by this thread as James Graham and Helen Robertson Graham are my 4xgreat grandparents
From my own searches James died 9/6/1859 at Polmont.
I would be interested in sharing info.

Can I ask you to consult your MI books? I am looking for James Graham, who was last known of at the time of the 1851 census, but marked as a widow on the 1871 census. His widow's death certificate (Helen Graham, ms. Robertson, d 1874, age 88 (so the DC says, but none of the ages on the various documents can agree on her birth year). His wife was a widow by the 1871 census. I've not looked for them on the 1861 census yet. They seem to have stayed all there married life in Polmont, and may have been born in Polmont or more probably in Muiravonside, depending which documents you believe. In 1841, James (50) and Helen (48). In 1851 James (67), Helen (55). In 1871 Helen (80). In 1874 Helen (88). So far I have not found his death on SP, which points the finger at a death in the 1851 to 1854 period, but I have not proven that.
Her parents are listed as George Robertson and Charlotte Hardie. Their 1786 marriage in Muiravonside is on the IGI, extracted from Muiravonside OPRs. She is listed as Charlotte Hardie or Rae. So far I have noot found any information concerning surname Rae. I am assuming Hardie is her maiden surname, although I accept that is not yet proven. Their children are listed on the IGI, but as LDS submissions with conflicting dates.
All the best,
Andrew Paterson
PS While I was writing this request you were answering Catriona, so I see you may not have this information at home.

They are my g-g-g-grandparents. I will contact you off-forum about sharing info. We may have exchanged some info previously on Genes Reunited - I let my subscription there lapse.
All the best,
