Hi Wendy
Another time, if you need to contact SP, if you click the Contact us link on any SP page, then down the bottom of the page there is a link which says:
Continue here to fill out the contact us form
You are then presented with a list of choices - types of problem you may be experiencing.
Please select the link that best describes your problem:

Scroll down till you find the one that suits. In some cases it will be listed there e.g. Illegible image is one I've used a few times if the image is so faint you just can't read it. However, my guess in this case would have been the
"Other problem not listed above."
option.

I always paste in the details of the record I'm referring to e.g.
1858 CHARLES CLARK, MALE (75) OLD MACHAR, ABERDEEN BURGH ABERDEEN CITY/ABERDEEN 168/02 0164 No Image ORDER

- Then you can go on to explain what the problem is. They usually reply very promptly, within 24 hrs, and are usually very helpful. Obviously if you fill in a form late Friday evening, you are probably not going to get a reply until folk are back at work on Monday. It does not cost anything to ask, so it is always worth a go!

Best wishes
Lesley

hi Wendy
I've just had a rummage in the FAQ section of SP and found this:
How do I know if an image is available to view?
If the index entry of the document you are interested in shows "View" in the image column, then it is available to view.

If "No Image" shows instead of "View" it means that the image is not yet available. You may instead order an extract by clicking on the "Order" button. See Extracts to find out more about them and Extract Orders for further information on the ordering process.

Unfortunately, we cannot undertake to inform you personally when a specific image becomes available, but to check which records are currently available and to see projections on future additions to the site, see Availability
So looks like the choice was either wait for a while with fingers crossed or order an extract. Oh well, at least it is much cheaper than the train fare from Aberdeen to Edinburgh!

Best wishes
Lesley

Morning lesley .. It sure is, gawd i havent been to Edinburgh for years.

I've been lucky enough that i've seen the ones i needed on SP lately, so having to buy the odd extract is gonna happen sooner or later.
I dont mind, especially when it could lead me on to Charles Clarks parents :D

Thank you for showing me how to contact them in the future, will probably need to at some point i reckon

Hi Wendy

You were up early this morning

The only thing I can add to "no image" is that sometimes, eventually it does appear :!:

However, if you're like me and most of the rest of us here, you just can't wait

Happy hunting

Best wishes
Jean
