Hi there

I have reached a brickwall with Honeyman's from Larbert and wondered if anyone can help.
I have Alexander Honeyman who was born about 1809 to William Honeyman & Elizabeth ( nee Irvine) ( from his DC ). He married Janet McGrouther. Alexander died in 1872 in Larbert . I have all his details.
However, there is another Alexander Honeyman born 1800 in Larbert to Alexander Honeyman & Jean(nee Miller). He died in 1861 and was married to Christian Bauld.
I feel sure that there is a connection between these 2 - possibly cousins - but I cannot find any proof at all.
I also can find nothing about a William Honeyman and Elizabeth Irvine , so the mother's name may be incorrect - it was given on Alexander's DC by his son.

The only Alexander HONEYMAN on LDS was born 1814, Falkirk parents names William HONEYMAN & Jean OGILVY

Have you tried going into Falirk library, I stay in Falkirk myself but haven't actually ised it yet. I believe it is quite good for the local information. There is also 2 LDS family history centres near you. One i Kirkcaldyand the other Dunfermline. These are sometimes worth a visit too,

I assume you have not managed to find your Alexanders birth record and nly have his death, which as you mentioned this information depends on the person reporting the death. many errors are made because of this. I have spent months searching for a John HUNTERs death only to find his wife was registered as Elizabeth instead of Margaret!

Also if you have any information on where he is buried, i have a friend who is transcribing the local cemeteries and i can check with her if she has been to the one you are looking for!

Having a look there could help narrow down things a bit.

Callendar House has a great Local History section in the Library - it's free to use it's facilities, they have the census films for the area, well worth a visit. I should really go myself.

Thank you both for your help .
I have been to Callendar House and they were very helpful . I have also been through census returns at the LDS in Kirkcaldy . The family are rather romantically listed as Honeymoon on the 1881 census !
Alexander and Christian Bauld are buried in Larbert and very thoughtfully have put all dates of birth as well as dates and places of death of themselves and several of their children on their gravestone - unfortunately I cannot prove a connection to my Honeyman's ! If only everyone was so obliging !
If they followed the traditional naming pattern , my Alexander's parents would have been William & Elizabeth , which is on his DC - but I can find no other proof of this.
There are a few stray Honeymans ( or men ) on the 1851 census , but seem to have died before 1855 , so cannot be placed !
Anyway - back to the drawing board - and thanks again for your input

Greetings from Canada. I am a descendent of William Honeyman and Elizabeth Irvine. Some time ago someone sent me an extensive document on the Honeyman family. The following is information from that document. Hope this helps.

1. Alexander Honeyman - a bricklayer, deceased by 1861, m. Jean Miller, 22, May 1791, Larbert, deceased by 1861.

2. William Honeyman - c. 1 Apr 1792, Larbert, Stirling
3. Janet Honeyman - c. 8 Apr 1794, Larbert, Stirling
4. Alexander Honeyman - c. 25 Dec 1795, Larbert, Stirling
5. Alexander Honeyman - c. 25 Nov 1800, Larbert, Stirling, d. Abt 1861, m. Christian Bauld.
6. Jean Honeyman - c. 29 Mar 1805, Larbert, Stirling.

Hi Gail

Thank you for that info , but I can't find a connection with my lot. I am beginning to think that Elizabeth Irvine never existed , as she is only mentioned on my Alexander's death certificate by his son William.
My Alexander was born 1808-1809 which is consistent on his death certificate and all census returns
Alexander , son of Alexander Honeyman & Jean Miller, born 1800, married to Christian Bauld is not mine but I am fairly certain that they are related , but cannot find the connection ! I wish he was as there is lots of info about him and also a very informative gravestone in Larbert.
