Hi, I have been building my family tree and I have been doing quite well until now.
My granfather came from Aberdeen and settled in Yorkshire.
I never got the chance to meet any of my family in Aberdeen as my mother never had the money to take us.
My grandads name was James Meston Gerrie born 12th November 1896 at 12, Millbank Lane, Aberdeen. I have found all the births and marraiges of his immediate family and I know there are living members of the family still in Aberdeen but how do I find them when I can't search records upto date. The last entry I have is my great grandfathers death in 1935, where one of his sons was present.
could anyone help as I'd love to find my lost relations. Thanks
can anyone help Gerrie family

Hi Kizzy
Welcome to Talking Scot
.
To look for living relatives you would have to access the more recent records in New Register House or get someone else to look for them for you.
You could advertise in the local paper which is the Press and Journal asking for relatives of your grandfather to contact you. I would make sure you give a box number rather than a direct contact address for yourself as you might get some undesirable contacts. The website for the paper is www.pressandjournal.co.uk .
Good luck with your search.

You could also try the P&J's bulletin board. You'll want to go there anyway just to see the thousands of old photographs of Aberdeen as well as the thousands of modern photographs. They are a very friendly bunch and if you ask nicely you'll get a photograph of your ancestor's house if it still exists.

And there is also the good old www.bt.com where you will find addresses of the Gerries in Aberdeen.
