I'm new.....
Hi everyone, I'm Jim. I think I'll be with you for a while. I have a large wish list of surnames. I'm looking for additional information on Ramsay (I left my big problem, William Ramsay, on Statatory Records discussion hoping to find the correct death record), Laing, Rae, Jaffray. Also Sangster, Mutch, Daniel, & Plenderleith. Regards from Canada Jim

Welcome to the forum Jim. My GGG Grandfather was William Ramsay born 1780 in Scoonie, Fife. I have many Ramsays in my tree so if you want to fire some names at me I'll see if we have a connection.
Happy Hunting

Thanks for the greetings
Thanks everyone,
Annette since I don't know where my William Ramsay b: abt 1819 was born (just that he came from Tarves in the 1841 census). My strategy was to try and find a death record and work backwards but the information on some death certificates may have been incomplete or incorrect and I haven't been able to identify a death record for him yet. Do you have any Williams in the next generation to your William of 1780?
Jim

Hello Jim
Are your Jaffrays and Sangsters from Aberdeenshire by any chance.
Peterhead/Ellon etc.
If so we are likely to have a connection, as I have loads.
Regards
Ellen.
Just noticed - I've got Mutches too!

Hi Ellen, my connection to the Jaffrays is George Rae who married Elspet Jaffray at Belhelvie in 1782.
Elspet Jaffray's parents I believe were William Jaffray & Jean Laurenson who were also married at Belhelvie in 1747.
All my Sangsters were from Cruden several generations farmed at Midtown then at Greenhill, Cruden. Jim
