Matthew Finnie 1868-?
Hello: I am interested in this new branch of my family. Matthew Finnie and brother James , 1864. Parents Matthew Finnie, 1836-1870, and Mary Wallace, 1835- about 1901. Last seen at 4 Kelvin Street on the 1891 census. Matthew was an Indian rubber turner. The 1881 census is at 53 tureen Street with brother James, mother, lodger David Kennedy from Ireland and his daughter Jane age 1. Has anyone any information as to what happened to Matt or brother James after 1891? thanks. Donna

Hi Donna,
This is surely Matthew in 1901, with a son named after him possibly before marriage, since he was single in 1891...
1901
15 Preston St, Bridgeton, Glasgow
Matthew Finnie, 33, Head, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire, India Rubber Worker
Margaret Finnie, 32, Wife, born Ireland
Matthew Finnie, 13, Son, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire
John Finnie, 4, Son, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire
All the best,
Sarah

Hi again,
Could this be James in 1891?
1891
64 Maitd St, Milton, Glasgow Barony, Lanarkshire
James Finnie, 27, Head, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Iron Plainer
Margaret Finnie, 23, born Liverpoo1
James Finnie, 22 mo, Son, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire
James Sim, 29, Boarder, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Rubber Worker
No sign of him in 1901, but could these be his children? If so, where are the parents?
1901
3 The Street Rose Cottage, Kilfinichen and Kilvickeon, Argyll
Sarah Mcl McPhail, 59, Head, born Kilfinichen, Argyllsh, Living on Own Means
Donal McMoran, 77, Brother, born Kilfinichen, Argyllsh, Farmer Retired
Robert Nicol, 9, Boarder, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scholar
James Finnie, 11, Boarder, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scholar
Margt Finnie, 8, Boarder, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scholar
Robert Finnie, 5, Boarder, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scholar
On SP there is a death in 1899 for a James Finnie born 1864. But it's not in Lanarkshire... but in Stirling, Stirlingshire. Could it be him?
There is also a death in 1897 of a Margaret Finnie born 1867. Not in Lanarkshire either... nor in Stirlingshire, but in Aberdeen
Somehow, I doubt that it is the right Margaret. But if not, where is she?
Regards,
Sarah
