Galloway family in Kinghorn, Fife

Post by joan_mccausland » Mon Jan 21, 2008 8:27 pm

I am looking for information about a Galloway family in Kinghorn.
The christenings of six children of Alexander Galloway and his wife Jean Melvil were recorded in the Kinghorn OPR:

Margaret 1785, Alexander 1787, Jean 1789, Alexander (again) 1791, Mary 1796, Agnes 1798

My gg-grandmother, Mary Galloway, married David Melville and died in Cellardyke in 1854, but I have been unable to find any information about her siblings. Can anyone help?

Hello Joan,

You can sometimes get clues via Hugh Wallis’s Middle Name site. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com ... #PageTitle

I found these events in Fife. If you check them on the IGI at the LDS site you might, if you’re lucky, get some clues as to possible descendants of the siblings.

Elisabeth Melvill Galloway, Bapt 25 Feb 1835.
Janet Melville Galloway, Born 15 Aug 1846.
Mary Melville Galloway, Born 5 Sept 1861.
Mary Melville Galloway, Born 16 Jun 1870.

Hope this helps,
Alan
