francis kelly

Post by bleckie » Wed Jan 30, 2008 8:55 am

Good morning everyone

I have found another of these ancesters who take great delight in trying to hide from us.

I am looking for a Francis Kelly who married Ann Smith in montrose on 20th June 1882.

On their daughter Elizabeth's marriage on 5th June 1912 To Alexander Tulloch in Perth Francis Kelly is listed as deceased, her mother is now known as Annie Fraser previously Kelly m.s. Smith.

I cannot find a death for Fransis Kelly anywhere nor can I find a marriage for Ann(ie) Smith (Kelly) to a Fraser anywhere.

Francis Kelly's occupation is listed as craneman and Annie Smith as a fish dealer.

Can any of you good people help

many thanks

yours aye

Hi BruceL,
Have you found Francis and Ann in the 1891 and 1901 censuses? Where were they? If Francis is still alive in 1901 it would narrow the window of time to look for his death.

Is he the Ship Yard Labourer age 51 in Govan in 1901, with children Maggie, 15; Charles, 14; and Annie, 4?
When was his daughter Elizabeth born?

More questions than answers, but they may help

 :D

All the best,
Sarah

Hi Bruce

Found the family in 1901, still in Perth, but Ann is now married to John Fraser.

There are two young Fraser children – Annie 2 and Flora 6 months – both born Perth.

The Kelly children are shown as step-children of John Fraser – Lizzie 15, James 12, John 10 and William 7 – Lizzie born Dundee the others all Perth.

This should narrow down considerably your hunt for the death of Francis Kelly and Ann’s marriage to John Fraser.

William Kelly born Perth 1893 or 1894 and Annie Fraser born Perth 1898 or 1899 leaves you with a window of about 5 to 7 years to work with.

Susan.

Hi Bruce,
No wonder I couldn't find him

Here is how he looks on Ancestry.com:

1891
47 Skinnegt, St Pauls, Perthshire
Francer Keely, 26, Head, born Talkirk, Steam Craneman
Ann Lunk Keely, 26, Wife, born Montrose, Fish Dealer
Elizabeth Keely, 5, Dau, born Dundee, Scholar
James Keely, 2, Son, born Perth
John Keely, 8 Mo, Son, born Perth

And you tell me that "Lunk" is really "Smith"?

There are a number of possible Francis Kellys who died in England during the relevant time... but how to know which, if any, are yours?

Regards,
Sarah
