Hi
I'm new to this and wondered if there was any way to check parents of a birth without getting the birth cert. Im looking for parents of Robert Burns Bertram born 1/11/1917 in Galashiels Selkirkshire Died 1990 in england.
I know his father was called Thomas Bertram and Robert had a sister called Jane. I have looked on Scotlands People and found a marriage and a birth for a Thomas Burns Bertram and births for a Jane and Robert in the same area that Thomas married. But i have also checked census for Thomas and the naming pattern is there but that don't mean that this man is Robert's Dad. So if anyone can help i would be really greatfull.

The only way I know of to confirm the name would be to have a look at the actual certificate either at Edinburgh or Park Circus in Glasgow. If that isn't possible you can order the certificate online from SP or GROS or have a friend or researcher have a look for you.

Not what you want to hear, I know...sorry

Thankyou for the offer i would be really greatfull whatever you find .
My sister-in-law found a death for a Thomas Burns Bertram he died at the same address as that on Robert's marriage cert.
