Heritable property

Post by stepmars » Tue Feb 05, 2008 11:17 am

Can anyone assist with an answer to the following?

In 18-19th century Scotland if the first son died before the father would heritable property have been claimed by the father's second son or by the first son of the first son?

Thanks,

Hi there

I'm pretty sure the answer is the first son of the first son but would have to check that out with the books on the matter. Will get back to you on this.

Yes. Definitely the first son of the first son and if he had no sons, his daughters.
