Gillan/Stomberg/Stoddart... Please HELP!!!
Ok, I have to repost this...
I would like help finding deceased family history. I am not sure who is dead and who is not. This is what I know....
My Grandparents have passed. They are Charles 1899-1955 and Margaret Gillan (Parker)1902-1957. Charles parents are listed as Alexander and Catherine Stoddart, but I know he was raised by Mary Gillan. I know that Alexander and Catherine have passed and Mary Gillan passed a year before my Grandfather...I belive. Margarets parents are listed as Joseph and Margaret Parker. They have passed also, but I can not find anything on them.
Margaret and Charles had three children: Charles Gillan 1935-2000.. I think, Margaret 1937-2005 I believe (I am still waiting for their death certificates) and my Mother Theresa Angela Gillan 10/20/1944 - 08/12/2008. I don't know if Charles has any children and I don't know if they are alive or not. The same for Margaret. I believe Margaret adopted a daughter named Ann-Marie, but she commited suicide. I would like to find more information about her death and birth because my Mom was close to her.
I guess that is all I have... Please answer if you know of any information... Would love to find out anything... Thanks...

Hello Casienja,
It might help us to help you if you could give us some idea of the area these people were living in.
You say you are waiting on Death Certificates, so I assume you have been searching on the Scotland's People Site [if not the link is at the top of the page].
You may find some mention of the various deaths in a newspaper, but others have more expertise in that area.

The area that I have is in Rutherglen. <address from 2005 is too recent to post. LesleyB> I have been on Scotland's Peoples Site, but the marriages do not go far enough to get their marriage certificate. (My grandparents Charles and Margaret Gillan were married Feb. 9, 1935.) Also, when I try to find birth certificates for them, there isn't any. I know they had family in Ireland, so I don't know if they were born there or not.
I believe her sister Margaret and brother Charles stayed in the Glasgow area. I found two death certificates, but I am not sure if they are the correct ones because I have not received them yet. Anne-Marie I believe was in Glasgow also. I would like to know if she did commit suicide or not. It is so hard when you don't have a lot of information.
Thank you for your help!

You also might want to try Lost Cousins at www.lostcousins.com. They deal with living relatives there and are running a freebie through Sept. 4, I think.

Hi Rosie
I regret that some of the information you are posting is too recent for TS. We are a genealogy forum, and are not able to assist with enquires concerning either possibly living persons or the recently deceased.
To help you get the most out of TS, check out the forum rules in "Essential Reading" http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=14
and also have a look at the "How to" Section
http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=60
which should help you settle in and feel at home in no time.
We are always here to help with family hsitory queries from further back in time, so if you decide to pursue that route we will be only too happy to help.
Best wishes

What information is too recent? The address that I listed is from my Grand Father's death certificate. (1955) His wife who was also living at that residence died in 1957. The children, including my Mom moved from there shortly afterwards. I have no family that is living there now and I actually do not even know if the home is still there. Is that too recent? Most of my family has died VERY young from cancer. (Like in their 50's.) There information is from the 50's, but they have all passed. My Mother just recently passed (2008). This is why I am trying to figure this all out. I thought I could post information about people who had passed...let me know. Thanks.
