Understanding history

Post by sheryl » Tue Sep 02, 2008 4:36 am

Verbal hx. passed down in my Young family reports that "Monsieur Jacques (P.O.W.) stayed on in Blairingone and married (wife's name not Known). Daughter Hellen Jack (Belle of Blairingone) (Name changed) wed Robert Sharp; 2 sons and 10 daughters. One daughter, Christina, married William Young b. 1827. Verbal hx. also says Robert (literally hunted to death deserter from Stirling Castle - Feb 1865; John died May 1865; Rab died July 1865 Can anyone possibly put some history to this to give me a better idea of the times. I am assuming Monsieur Jacques was French. Thanks in advance.
