Hello All
My Great Grandfather was called David Alexander McDougall Sime (born 1857 Cargill, Perth). He was the second child of William Sime and Ann McDougall and his paternal grandfather was called David also. I know the McDougall part was his mother's maiden name but I can find no trace of any Alexander in my research so far. Would Alexander have been a forename of somebody or another surname? Any advice gladly welcomed.
Regards
Geoff Rogers

Could be either a forename or a surname. Remember that Alistair and Alexander are the same name, not forgetting diminutives such as Sandy.
