Hello lindalou
...and welcome to Talking Scot
Have you looked for your grandparents on the Scotlands People site? (link at top of page) You should be able to find marriage, birth and death records for them there, if these events all happened in Scotland. The information given on these records will help you trace your family further back.
Another option is to spend a day in Park Circus in Glasgow or New Register House in Edinburgh and look up the records there.
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Lindalou
This is where a look at what was happening in the wider world can give some clues.
Agnes married just before the start of the Great War. It is possible that she lost her husband in that awful conflict but was luckier than many women and found another husband. Men were in short supply after the war was over
Look now for the marriage of Agnes Gibbons to someone called Cunningham probably between 1918 and 1925.
If she remained in the Lanarkshire area till she died that cuts down the possible options a little.
Fingers crossed for a successful search
