I am trying to locate a 'Mitchell' family bible that was held at Knockbain church ( not sure if it was the free church or the church of Scotland) in the 1870s. The minister at the time was John Macgregor. Does anyone know how I can located this family bible?
Any tips will be helpful!

Hello Noa,
John McGregor was Church of Scotland and appears to have been at Knockbain Parish Church from 1868 until his death in 1892. See the last post in this thread for his Fasti details. http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.ph ... c=131985.0
Here’s a photo of his grave.

This appears to be a photo of the Church.

It looks like it’s still a going concern as there have been very recent Weddings and Funerals at “Knockbain Parish Church, Munlochy”. I’m not sure if these have been in the original C.O.S. building.
Perhaps you could write to the church and they could advise you as to whether they hold any relevant documents or where they most likely would have ended up. Just in case it is useful the Knockbain Free Church has a website at http://www.knockbainfreechurch.org/
Good luck,
Alan
