Some help needed please

Post by d.mackechnie » Thu Apr 09, 2009 9:22 pm

Hoping someone can help if possible, looking for any possible information on a brother and sister, Janet McEachern b 2 Jan 1862 and Archibald McEachnie b 22 Jan 1866, they were both born in Oban to Donald McEachern and Mary McKillop. I have the census record of them in 1871, living in Soldiers Park, Oban, living in the house were Mary, head, mother, Janet age 9 - scholar, Arch age 4 and a younger sister Flora age 2 ( there is no father present at this time which is another mystery for me to solve, he is back by the next year because they have another child, Peter ), it is after this 1871 census that Janet disappears, I have a possible in 1881 for Arch, living with a McDougall family in the Combie St, Backland area of Oban.

Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks.

There is a death indexed at SP of a Janet McEachern in 1878 age 14 although it's not at Oban and the name seems to be pretty common in that area.

What a nightmare of a name to research - I only found them at Ancestry in 1871 because you gave the address.
